Trying new things

I have been making an effort to stretch a bit, lately. According to my sources, (Librarian in Black recent post) librarians should be trying new technologies, just to understand how they work and how they might serve us or our customers.

Well, I'm working on it. I find the most difficult thing is to keep remembering all the places I am supposed to be checking, and then finding the time to check them. For instance, this blog. Good for me for trying to continue to think about libraries in abstract ways. How often should I post? That's only one question.

What about my personal blog? What about reading all the feeds I have coming into Bloglines? Updating GoodReads? or Linked in?

I'm overwhelmed already. So when I think about adding new stuff, I tend to feel deflated before I even start? Who has time to check out Second Life or even to check their three separate e-mail accounts anymore? When does this stop being exploration, and start being tedious and a substitute for real life?
