I just watched "High School Musical" which, (as I should have expected) sucked eggs, but still made me nostalgic for the good old days of high school. Wait, what? No!
Everyone was in the movie was a ridiculously awful stereotype. As my husband pointed out, the creators did a good job of including a diverse group of young actors, but just made them all dress and act like the white suburban kids.
Every single cast member was a silly caricature, so I should have expected nothing less when the librarian showed up. I don't think she even had lines--just shushing. And a bun. And glasses. And boring clothes. Not that I haven't shushed, bunned and been near- sighted myself, but I would have been shaking my fanny with everyone in the big number at the end, even if I were a horrible librarian stereotype. I think she was the only person in the movie not represented in the gym that day. The shame!
