Still Waiting...

I am intrigued how library subs keep up communications with a particular library. I know they do it--most libraries have a librarian in the wings they call for emergencies. But other than retiring and being willing for re-call, how do those subs become "the one?"

I'm still working on this. I'll get back to you when I have read the secret librarian-sub handbook. In the meantime, I'll keep working my other job, the one that pays the bills and that I am growing ever more disinchanted with.

One day, I can just tell people "I'm a librarian," and not have to say, "Well, most of the week I work here, but presto chango, I step into this phone book and become Librarian Woman!" Able to leap self-checkout stations in a single bound! Faster than a speedy wait list! It's a bird, it's your high school english teacher, it's Librarian Woman!

I need to go to my third job and make dinner for the family now.
